Justin A. Long, PhD BME, EIT, joined RLF in 2019 as a Senior Biomedical Engineering Consultant. Dr. Long specializes in forensic analysis of medical devices and accident reconstruction pertaining to biomechanics and injury causation. Prior to gaining extensive academic and industrial experience, Dr. Long interned as an engineering technician with Thornhill, Ramirez & Associates, Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005 and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2014. His dissertation work included the development of sophisticated diagnostic imaging methods for identifying and characterizing the progression of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Additionally, Dr. Long has over 15 years of experience in medical device design developing products for the wound care (NPWT) and minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVR) industries. He has a FAA UAV/drone pilot’s license and is fluent in Spanish. As a well-published author and prolific inventor with over 50 issued patents, Dr. Long brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the RLF team.
